The over-the-top ad (“We are Better than That”) of Dale Peterson, candidate for the Republican nomination for Alabama Agriculture Commissioner, has “gone viral.” Here is my libertarian response:
First, Mr. Peterson, put your gun down and relax. Brandishing your rifle just evokes the fact that government acts through the threat of force.
Second, let us explore whether we can greatly diminish, or abolish, the functions of the Commission. The agency appears to exist to primarily serve a special interest, the agricultural industry. That industry should not be dependent on taxpayers for its well-being.
Aren’t we “better than” wanting dependency on taxpayer funding? Be a tough guy and speak out for free markets and privatization.
